Albums

Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.

Before Toto was formed, members of the band played session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier albums and was criticized for its absence of hit singles. In 1985 the lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group, and the band held auditions to find the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their album Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old demos and tapes to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and the band embarked upon the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live album titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with the band.
